GATEWAY ON THE MAIN DRIVE
The gothic gates were designed by Steve Field, and contain elements relating to the park area in the past, including monks and the nearby deer park. They make a fine entrance for pedestrians, but dut to the one-way traffic system to the park, they are not as easily appreciated by motorists.
STAG & DOE SCULPTURES
At the northern entrance to the park in Woodland Avenue, the central avenue leading up to the Pavilion is now flanked by sculptures of a stag and a doe, a reference to the fact that there was a deer park nearby in medieval times. The sculptures were designed by Carol-ann Richards, who was a student at Dudley College.
There is a lot to see and enjoy in Priory Park, and to help people appreciate the features three new interpretation boards were installed in 2013 at some of the main entrances to the Park.
